Planning

Following some success with BG supports over the summer, the time has come for me to have a go. My running this year has been improved from last years. I think the 6 week break at the end of last year for my shoulder op helped get some life back in the legs.

After my last support leg in September, Jim Manns amazing leg 4 performance, I needed a cut back. Four easy weeks of training followed and since then, training has steadily improved and increased.

I've had a couple of good run outs in races, but need to look at the right balance now between racing and training. I also need to look at some seed work. A BG is a lot about doing the steady stuff, but surely having a little bit of zip in the legs can't be a bad thing.

I also need to make sure I get the balance between work, training and life right. If I can get this right (i.e not overdo it) then I will be fine.

It's a challenge I look forward to with fear, but with respect and admiration for the distance and those who've gone before me. I promise to train hard, but to enjoy myself at the same time. If I'm not going to enjoy myself, what is the point. I have made good friends over the last few months. I've been offered good support and advice and I will return that with interest.
